Two local fixed gear riders were hit from behind last week while riding in East Bakersfield. Both riders are alive and got away with major road rash.
These photos are not to scare or discourage anyone from riding the streets; but to raise cycling awareness and safety. This is not a value judgement on the riders, and this not to to say that they werent aware of their surroundings or were riding carelessly.
Always be aware of your surroundings, think twice about running the red lights, dont forget your lights/helmets and always look out for each other. Little things can make a difference and avoid situations such as these.
I hope these riders get back up and ride again soon!
