Memorial Ride.

I hope that many of you guys can make it out to this ride.

On Wednesday, residents in Bakersfield may notice a string of bicyclists riding on Chester Avenue with black armbands and wonder what is going on. A bicycle funeral procession not quite but similar! Tuesday marks the Two Year Anniversary of our dear friend Alton Saceaux’s death.  On June 29, 2009 Alton Saceaux a friend too many in the community, a husband, a father and a grandfather was struck and killed by a drunk driver while riding his bike on South Union Avenue.  There is not a day that goes by since his tragic death that Alton is not in my thoughts.   In memory of my dear friend and friend too many we will be holding a remembrance ride on Wednesday June 29, 2011 that will start at the Liberty Bell in Downtown Bakersfield meet at 6:00 ride starts at 6:30 P.M. and proceed along Chester Avenue to Union to the site of the accident.  We urge all of you who knew Alton and those of you who did not to join us in this ride of remembrance to bring awareness as a collective group that if you are behind the wheel of a car, the only thing we cyclist ask is a little more room and most important just a little patience and please do not drive drunk.
